BREAST AUGMENTATION FAQ’S

What breast implant size is right for me?

The most important question women want to answer is “how big” to go, so Dr Lovric spends time with you trying out different “sizers” to work out your ideal outcome. He really focuses on creating natural breasts.

What will happen when I get pregnant or want to breast-feed?

If you are considering having children, you should discuss this with Dr. Lovric during your consultation, along with your goals of the surgery. The ability to nurse after you have had the size of your breasts increased is unaffected. But more importantly your child will not be exposed to silicone in your breast milk. You should not fall pregnant within six months of having the augmentation, nor will Dr. Lovric put in implants within six months of stopping the breast feeding of your child.

What about mammograms?

The risk of developing breast cancer is unchanged following a breast augmentation, as do our recommendations for cancer screenings. Self-breast examinations should be performed monthly regardless. And Mammograms will still detect if you have developed a new growth.

Is a breast augmentation for me?

The best candidates are those who have always been self conscious of their small breasts, and have constantly used padding to feel feminine. Those who  have under-developed breasts due to deficient tissue or tuberous breasts are also good candidates, The procedure is also perfect for the asymmetrical patient (no two breasts are the same but sometimes this may be excessive), and the patient who has deflated breasts after children or large weight loss to improve the upper pole fullness again.

How will I feel after surgery?

The recovery from a traditional breast augmentation  procedure can be quite uncomfortable. Following your surgery, you need to sleep on your back to avoid pressure put on your breasts. Sexual activity should be avoided one to two weeks after surgery and strenuous activity for at least six weeks. Dr. Lovric insists you  wear a sports bra for three months altogether to get the best possible result. The stitches will be removed after a few weeks. Bruising and swelling may take up to six weeks to disappear, and it may take up to a year or two for the scars to flatten and fade. Most importantly after three months you have the breasts you always dreamt about.

What are the risks involved with breast augmentation surgery?

As with any surgery, there are risks associated with breast enlargement. Infection, nipple numbness, implant displacement, and rippling are all possible side effects of breast augmentation surgery. Another potential side effect is called capsular contracture. This occurs when the scar or capsule around the breast implant begins to tighten, squeezing the implant and causing the breast to harden. This happens less often with the cohesive implants Dr. Lovric uses-the latest generation of implants also called 'gummy bears'!
